The Interlochen Percussion Institute
The Interlochen Percussion Institute was a great success! Zildjian Artists featured at the institute included Cynthia Yeh, Chicago Symphony Orchestra; John Tafoya, Indiana University; Tommy Igoe, Birdland Big Band/Lion King; Mike Burritt, Eastman School of Music; John Alfieri, Interlochen Arts Camp and Keith Aleo, Boston Conservatory. The week included clinics and masterclass with all of the artists and a solo recital by Mike Burritt. Mike's recital concluded with his piece Rounders for percussion trio and solo marimba. Midweek, John Tafoya and Cynthia Yeh hosted an orchestral rep session where students got to play along side of them in such orchestral works as Scheherazade, Symphony Fantastique, Capriccio Espagnol and more. The final concert featured the student percussion ensemble with John Tafoya and Tommy Igoe as soloists.
